FOUNDER. MA. ARCH. ALEJANDRA ULLOA L. / ARCHITECTURAL LIGHTING DESIGNER

In my journey in Architectural Lighting Design, I’ve been fortunate to achieve milestones that have shaped my career. I started as a Junior Lighting Designer at Darko Lighting CR,  from 2013 to 2014, where I learned the basics of the craft. Following my passion, I pursued a Master’s degree in Architectural Lighting Design and Design Management at Wismar University, Germany, graduating in 2017. In this same year, I founded SCENA Lighting Design Consultancy alongside my architectural firm, SCENA Arquitectura e Iluminación, allowing us to work on lighting projects internationally , leaving our mark on prestigious projects in the USA, Canada, Barbados, Dominican Republic, Panama, Nicaragua, and Guatemala between 2017 and now. 

My commitment to sharing knowledge led me to teach Lighting Design at institutions like the Technological Institute of Costa Rica, Veritas University, and  Universidad de Costa Rica, I’ve been offering private lighting courses since 2019 until now. These experiences have been humbling and have reinforced my dedication to the field. I am grateful for the opportunities to contribute to the industry and continue learning along the way.Additionally, I had the honor of being a speaker at two International Congresses: Expo Construir Latam in November 2020, where I shared insights on ¨Lighting as a Key Element in Design¨, and the Spaces and Dimensions Congress by Construir magazine in November 2021, where I spoke about ¨Lighting as the Key to Cutting-edge Design¨. 

In envisioning the future of my career in Architectural Lighting Design, my aspirations extend far beyond personal growth. I am deeply committed to championing the significance of light and its profound impact on the human experience within architectural spaces. By emphasizing the symbiotic relationship between light and architecture, I aim to redefine how individuals perceive and engage with their surroundings. I believe that light has the power not only to illuminate physical spaces but also to evoke emotions, enhance well-being, and tell compelling stories
